What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small file attachment, which is placed in the browser of your computer or on your mobile device. So-called “first party cookies” are cookies controlled by the company, which operates the domain on which the cookies are placed. HRS cookies are therefore “first party cookies”. Whenever we allow third parties to use cookies through the web pages and apps of HRS, these cookies are “third party cookies”.

In addition to cookies, other comparable tracking technologies may be used. For example, they include tracking pixels (called pixel tags, web bugs, or GIFs), tracking URLs or software developer kits (SDKs). A tracking pixel is a tiny graphic only one pixel in size which is sent either via a web page request, in an app, in an advertisement, or in the E.Mail-HTML format to your computer. Pixels can be used to request data from your device, for example your type of device or your operating system, the IP address, and the time of your visit. Pixels are also used to operate and access cookies in your Browser. Tracking URLs can be used to determine via which referring website the HRS. web pages or apps are visited. SDKs, however, are small code components within apps, which work in a manner similar to cookies and tracking pixels.

For the purposes of the present rules regarding cookies, all of these technologies are collectively referred to as “cookies”.

Depending on their function and their intended use, cookies can be divided into four categories*: technical cookies, functional cookies amp; cookies necessary for the purpose of the company, analytic cookies, and cookies for marketing purposes.

Cookies on This Website Which Do Not Require Consent – Technical Cookies, Functional Cookies & Cookies Necessary for the Purpose of the Company – (Strictly necessary)

Strictly necessary cookies (technical cookies, functional cookies & cookies necessary for the purpose of the company), also referred to as “strictly necessary cookies”, ensure functions without which you could not use this website as intended. These cookies are exclusively used by HRS and are therefore so-called first party cookies.

We want to offer our users modern and user-friendly web pages and apps, which automatically reflect their wishes and needs. For such purpose, we use technical cookies to be able to display our website to you and ensure proper functioning. Technical cookies are also used to create the user account, log in, and manage your bookings. This is indispensable for correct functionality of our website.

In addition to technical cookies, HRS also uses functional cookies & cookies necessary for the purpose of the company. Without such cookies (functional cookies & cookies necessary for the purpose of the company), functions, which permit convenient, efficient and user-friendly surfing on our websites and our apps, for example, your preferred language and currency preferences as well as your searches and accommodations you have viewed earlier, are no longer available. In addition, these cookies can also be used to store your log-in data to ensure that you do not need to reenter them again every time you visit our page. Your password, however, is always encrypted. These functional cookies & cookies necessary for the purpose of the company are indispensable for the functioning of our website considering that they enhance user-friendliness and ensure that your visit to HRS is as pleasant as possible. They also ensure that reports about web/app activities can be prepared and to provide other use with the website/app. The legal basis for use of these cookies necessary for the purpose of the company is Article 6, Paragraph 1, letter f of the Basic Data Protection Regulation.

Strictly required cookies can not be deactivated using the function of this page. You can deactivate cookies in general in your browser at all times.

Adjust – Mobile Measurement Partner

Among others, this website/app also uses the analytic technology “adjust.com” of Adjust GmbH (“adjust”). For analysis, adjust uses IP and Mac addresses of users, which are exclusively used in an anonymized manner, however. This does not permit identification of any individual.

The usage information which is collected is solely used to analyze the function and use of the website/app through anonymized analyses and the generation of graphics regarding the number of visits, number of pages accessed per user, etc. The analyses are exclusively used for our own market research as well as optimization and need-based design of the website/app. You may reject the collection and storage of data at all times effective for the future by sending any e-mail to optout@adjust.com.

Cookies for Marketing Purposes

Facebook

Within our website and apps, we use pixels of the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. In the process, so-called tracking pixels are integrated on our pages. When you visit our website/apps, the tracking pixel creates a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. As a result, Facebook receives information from your browser that your device accessed our website/apps, among other information. If you are a Facebook user, Facebook can associate your visit of our pages with your user account. As the pixel is accessed by your browser, Facebook can furthermore determine whether a Facebook ad was successful, for example that such ad has led to a hotel booking. As a result, we can determine the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. In this case, we use a procedure during which no datasets, in particular no e-mail addresses of our users – whether encrypted or unencrypted – are sent to Facebook.

You can find more information regarding this topic in the Data Privacy Notice of Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. Please click hereif you want to prevent the collection of data via Facebook pixels. Alternatively, you may deactivate Facebook pixels on the page of the Digital Advertising Alliance at the following link: http:/www.aboutads.info/choices/

Google Adwords Conversion Tracking

In addition, this website uses Google Conversion Tracking. Google Adwords installs a cookie on your computer whenever you accessed our website via a Google ad. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. When a user visits certain pages of the HRS website/apps and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and HRS can determine that the user clicked on an ad and was forwarded to this page. Each and every Adwords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the web pages of Adwords customers. The information which is collected through conversion cookies serves to prepare conversion statistics for Adwords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Adwords customers (HRS) find out about the total number of users who clicked on their ad and who were forwarded to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information which can be used to personally identify any users. If you do not want to participate in the tracking procedure, just click the upper bottom to conveniently accept or reject cookies which require consent.

You can also block and delete cookies by changing your browser settings. To manage cookies, most browsers make it possible to accept or reject all cookies or only accept certain types of cookies. The procedure to manage and delete cookies can be found in the Help function, which is integrated in the browser. In case you restrict the use of cookies, you will not be able to use all interactive functions of our website/apps. To deactivate Google Conversion Pixels, please block the “googleadservices.com” cookie in your preferred browser. Click here for Google’s Data Privacy Notice regarding conversion tracking.

Google Remarketing

This website/app uses the remarketing function of Google Inc. This function serves to show interest-based ads to website & app visitors within the Google advertising network. For such purpose, a so-called cookie is installed, which makes it possible to recognize a visitor as long as such visitor accesses web pages belonging to the advertising network of Google. On such pages, the visitor may be shown ads which refer to contents accessed earlier by the visitor on the HRS website/apps, which use the remarketing function of Google. According to its own statement, Google does not collect any personal data in the process. If you do not wish to participate in the tracking procedure, click the upper button to conveniently accept or reject cookies which require consent. You may also adjust the respective settings at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you may deactivate the use of cookies for interest-based advertising via the Network Advertising Initiative by following the instructions at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.

Criteo Retargeting

Our websites and apps use so-called re-targeting technologies such as Criteo. We use these technologies to make our Internet offering more interesting for you. This technology makes it possible to target Internet users who have already expressed an interest in our web pages, apps, hotels, and services with advertising on the websites and apps of our partners (e.g. Criteo). We are convinced that displaying personalized, interest-based advertising is usually more interesting for internet users than advertising which lacks such a personal element. The display of such advertising elements on the pages of our partners is based on cookie technology and analysis of prior usage behavior. This type of advertising is entirely pseudonymous. No usage profiles are combined with your personal data. If you do not wish to participate in this tracking procedure, simply click the upper button to conveniently reject or accept cookies which require consent. You may also adjust the respective settings at https://www.criteo.com/privacy/.

Microsoft Bing Conversion Tracking

This website/app uses conversion tracking of Bing Ads (Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA). Whenever you click on a Bing ad, a cookie is installed on your computer. As a result, both Bing as well as the HRS Group can determine that a user was forwarded to the website/ad by the Bing ads and has reached a pre-specified destination page (conversion page). If you do not want to participate in the described tracking procedure, you may reject the installation of a cookie, which is required for such purpose by adjusting the browser setting accordingly. Other information regarding data privacy and cookies used at Microsoft Bing can be found on the Microsoft website:  Data Privacy Notice
