“There is no classic career in tourism”, said Tobias Ragge, CEO of the HRS Group, in his speech on the Young Professionals Day at the ITB – The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show in Berlin. The speech attracted interested career starters and young professionals from all over Germany. Based on his years of experience and observation of young professionals, Tobias Ragge knows which personal characteristics and behaviours are required to advance your career in the tourism industry.
The key message Tobias Ragge gave to the young talents: In the working life of the tourism sector not only professional qualifications are crucial. Especially the right attitude towards life and mindset are relevant.
The diversified tourism industry consists of many different departments which create various job profiles. Working in a hotel differs considerably from working for a supplier and provider of digital end-2-end hotel solutions. The HRS Group focuses on offline departments concerning working together with hotels where the actual journey happens. The heart of our services builds an online booking platform. As a modern intermediaries Online Marketing plays an important role in B2B as well as in B2C departments.
While traditional concerns stand for reliability and are characterised by a significantly higher average age, most start-ups spread a young and creative atmosphere with the ongoing struggle to becoming sustainably established.
The HRS Group with its 1,500 employees combines the advantages of a large global enterprise and the agility of a start-up. On the one hand, we have a dynamic hands-on mentality and every employee has the possibility to develop his or her own entrepreneurial ideas and quickly assume responsibility. On the other hand, there is an established corporate group behind us ensuring reliability, professionality and great possibilities for development.
According to Tobias Ragge, it is very important for your individual professional career to find a company which fits to your personality as well as to build a unique personal network. At first, applicants should define their own expectations regarding to their working environment. Afterwards they should look for a company which meets them.
This is precisely the reason why the HRS Group explicitly communicates its values (entrepreneurial, passionate, dynamic, performance-oriented and team players) and checks whether the applicant has the right fit or not to be successful at HRS. Our corporate culture builds on a common understanding which is defined by agreed values and our common vision “We love to make it happen”. From generation to generation this makes us a successful company and enables a continuous growth of the HRS Group. The big movie into our new headquarters ‘Coeur Cologne’ by the second half of 2017 is a result of this.
